If certain aspects of life came with an instruction manual would you read it?
With all the information out about wellness and health, it can be overwhelming. I have been fortunate to have access to in-depth knowledge from both my education and experience. Those who have come after me may not begin to understand certain aspects of health that can control until they become problems.
Now, we can do an online search to learn more about a health concern, medication side effects, etc. There is something lacking in the personal experience component though, such as hearing something straight from a doctor. Originally I wrote this for my Sisters but would like to include all women.
Here are five tips that I wish I knew when I was younger, I hope they benefit all of you as well.
What we don’t know can hurt us, plain and simple. I wish I knew my genetics, my nutritional deficiencies, and how my diet drastically affected my health before I fell and hit my head. Even though major life breakthroughs and great things happened because of it, it could have been prevented. By testing your hormone levels, your vitamin levels, and your genetics you can put together a personal puzzle with answers you need for health and survival.
Even if you feel absolutely amazing to find out why to learn what is working for you! Get your numbers done on TSH, free T3, DHEAS, free and total testosterone, your estradiol on cycle day 14, and day 21 progesterone. This will give you an idea of what is ideal for you as you age to know what levels are best and what to do to maintain them. If you have fertility and egg quality on your mind now or plan on it in your future, test for those hormone and nutrient levels too.
This is imperative as so many women are having children later in life today. Careers and economic changes over the years have had people working insane hours to get ahead. It has lead to bad diets, as it takes longer excel to increase income for a family. This is why knowing where you stand on fertility is key to having success when you are ready, especially if being ready is after age 35 when fertility statistically starts to decline.
Losing weight is more challenging as we age due to hormonal changes that occur. If you can be at your ideal number without being too thin or overweight, you will have an advantage. It will give you a baseline to work with as where your body is comfortable and hopefully create a new set point for you. If you need to balance hormones in order to get there, I have many solutions available including a further explanation in my books.
We have all had about with overeating, drinking too much, and often giving too much. We all have moments where our emotions get the best of us. It is not a habit you want to develop when any of the aforementioned are associated.
Binge eating and drinking ruin our hormonal balance for days to come especially when relapses happen. We may eat a cupcake after a week on a healthy diet thinking we deserve it and it can easily lead to one more. The downward spiral happens from there. Alcohol turns into sugar in our bloodstream and we all know what too much sugar does. It’s like riding a rollercoaster, our levels shoot up quickly and drop down feeling like our stomachs are in our throat. It is awful for our hormones and very few think about it. If you need support, there are groups such as Overeaters Anonymous, Moderation Management, Food Addicts, or therapy. Get off the rollercoaster and let your life unfold at its own authentic pace.
Clients, families, work stress can sway us to give up time for ourselves. Keep your health and wellness as a priority. I have seen people in client-centric industries from health to beauty become a slave to their client's schedules. Don’t let others needs rule out the time you need for you. Schedule it in daily and don’t sacrifice it.
For me, meditating for 30 minutes daily, and exercise four times per week are needed I have that I don’t give up. Exercise, in particular, helps keep hormones balanced and will benefit you further as you age.
There are tremendous health benefits of having regular orgasms. Take the time to physically become more relaxed and in a better mood from the chemicals released in your brain. Your looks and vitality long-term will show it too. Sexual energy is the fuel that propels you forward in so many aspects of life. Use it to harness your greater purpose.
What else do you absolutely love in life? Find it and do that too.
These five tips are all things I wish I knew when I was younger. I experienced many lessons related to my internal health, physical wellness, family life, and personal life. If I can help or inspire any one of my Sisters, those related to me and including all women I am glad to help you all live life to the fullest.
