Protein Waffles & Pancakes
Grandma's waffles may be delicious, but they're not exactly protein-packed. In fact, most traditional waffle recipes contain very little protein and are mostly made from refined flour, which can cause a blood sugar spike. Protein waffles, on the other hand, are made with a combination of whole wheat flour and protein powder. This means they have a steadier release of energy, which can help to keep you feeling full longer. Protein waffles also tend to be higher in fiber and lower in sugar than traditional waffles. So if you're looking for a breakfast that will give you sustained energy throughout the morning, protein waffles are the way to go. Plus, they're just as delicious as Grandma's!
For the waffles:
2 cups (240g) whole grain baking flour
1 scoop Reset360 All-In-One Protein Powder
2 tbsp. coconut sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 ¾ cups (420ml) almond milk, unsweetened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 tbsp. applesauce
pinch of salt
Toppings:
2 tbsp. maple syrup
4 tbsp. pecans, chopped
Chopped fruit
Here's what you need to do:
Preheat the waffle maker. Optionally you can skip the waffle maker and use a skillet for pancakes.
Combine all of the ingredients together in a mixing bowl and stir well to combine into a batter.
Batter shouldn’t be too thin or too thick, adjust almond milk and flour accordingly.
Scoop some of the batter onto the waffle maker and cook until the waffles are golden and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Repeat this process with the remaining waffle batter.
Divide the waffles between 2 plates and serve with your favorite toppings.
Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat the waffles in the oven or toaster.
Optional: top with fresh fruit, jam, or pure maple syrup.
